Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get my child started? Do I need a referral?

Simply go to our online booking calendar to find a time that works for you or your child. You can also add yourself to the waitlist. If you would like to talk to physical therapist first, please email info@seattlepediatricpt.com to set up a time to talk.

Washington is a direct-access state for physical therapy, which means you can access physical therapy services without a prescription or referral and it's not required for most insurance reimbursements.  We will communicate all reports to your physician(s), at your direction.

Does my child need to meet a certain level of delay or injury?

You do not need to wait until you have prior-authorization to receive help. We believe in offering help and guidance as soon as possible, it often results in the child needing less therapy and improving much faster. Please don't hesitate to reach out to see if physical therapy can help.

Similarly, if injury prevention is important for your kiddo who is invested in higher level youth sports, please reach out before there is an issue. We are here to help and guide your child to a successful season and aid in their athletic growth and performance.

How frequently does my child need to be seen?

This depends on several factors! The frequency of sessions is dependent the reason for physical therapy and scheduling parameters. We are more than happy to work around all parameters as needed to come up with a successful plan for your child and family. We don't believe most kids need 2-3x/week PT sessions (like the old days) and that a good home program of teaching our families what to work on at home leads to the most success, the fastest. Many of our kids see us between 1 and 4 times a month.

What can I expect from an evaluation?

Evaluations start with a conversation to gather information regarding your primary concerns and how your child is being impacted by this concern.  Physical therapists use a combination of standardized assessments and clinical observations to gather information and determine a plan of care. You and your kiddo will be given "homework" to work on things at home.

Do you take my insurance? What can I expect for cost?

Seattle Pediatric PT is an out-of-network provider. We are committed to the highest standard of care. To do this, we have taken the insurance influence out of our care and decision-making and therefore we are out of network with commercial insurances. We believe medical billing should be transparent. Our fee schedule is as follows. There are no additional fees for membership, after hours emailing, getting taped between appointments etc.

Fee schedule:

Evaluations (First Visit): $250

Follow up visits: $200

We give superbills for you to file with your insurance company. Most of our patients have out of network benefits that cover some of their costs. This will very by insurance plan.
